What is the difference between semi-permanent and permanent makeup?

Absolutely nothing. The process of opening the skin and implanting pigment into the skin is regarded as a tattoo and this is where the 'permanent' aspect comes from. Every technician calls it something different, but essentially, it is semi-permanent because if done correctly, it will naturally fade out. If you go to an inexperienced technician you don’t know what how deep they are entering the skin, and if traditional tattoo pigments are used, it would effectively make it permanent because they are not designed to fade out.

How long does the treatment last?

This is not an easy question to answer because everyone’s skin is different. Fading factors include skin type, medications, sun exposure, lifestyle, skincare products and specific vitamins. It is normal for someone to expect to get 12-18 months out of each treatment area. However, please be aware that some skin types may need more re-touches. Nyree will give her honest advice and ensure you are provided with all the information you need to make an informed decision.

Does the treatment hurt?

Topical anaesthetic is applied before the treatment and again throughout. If you have had permanent makeup elsewhere and think it was too painful to do it again—I promise you it should not hurt. You should not be bleeding, excessively swollen or even gripping the couch during the procedure. Most of my clients want to fall asleep during the process!

What if I don’t like the result?

Great time and care is taken during the consultation appointment to ensure your individual requirements are met. Nyree takes the time to fully assess your facial features and pays close attention to detail when discussing the look you want to achieve. The design and colour selection process are both extremely important aspects to achieve the best results possible. If we cannot agree on the design, colour and final result then we can refuse to carry out the treatment. Nyree is known for natural results; she will not do black eyebrows! The number of poorly trained technicians entering the industry has led to a significant increase in people contacting Nyree asking her to rectify work of another.

Is the treatment expensive?

In the cosmetic industry, it is usually the higher end of the market that gives the best results. Price alone should not be your deciding factor when choosing a technician to work on your face. You should look at their work, read their reviews, ensure they are properly licensed and insured to carry out the treatments, and even ask to see the room to ensure it is a clinical environment. Likewise, you should feel comfortable with the technician you choose, build a rapport with them, and feel at ease around them. If carried out professionally, these services are not cheap. But then this is your face, so please remember this if you choose a significantly cheaper technician.

What are the health and safety requirements?

Again, it is only safe if the technician is professional and trained to a high standard. Ask them where they trained and for how long; who they are insured with; if the local council certified them as having a safe environment to perform the treatments; have they studied blood borne pathogens; do they have clinical waste disposal; are their needle cartridges sealed and for individual use only; how do they clean the room and the equipment; are the pigments safe? Do your homework and know what you need to ask and look for.

How long does the treatment take?

Once you decide that semi-permanent makeup is the treatment for you, a skin test and some medical forms MUST be completed. No exceptions. If you are not asked to carry out these tests by another technician, ask yourself: are they safe? Once Nyree confirms you are suitable to have the treatment, she will arrange an appointment for you. Please allow 2-3 hours for your first semi-permanent makeup appointment. As previously mentioned, the first appointment requires a detailed consultation, colour selection process, facial measurements anddesign of your individual treatment area. Nyree does not have a one size fits all approach, and for this reason, more time is taken with each client. The perfecting appointment takes place 5-6 weeks later is a more condensed appointment.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

Just had my first deep tissue massage from Rob. I have been doing sport all my life, from distance running to weight training, and had a lot of sports massages. I can't recommend Rob enough. Best deep tissue I have had. He was professional, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I will be going there regularly now for all my deep tissue massages. As soon as I walked out, I felt a lot less tense all over. Thank you Rob, I will be highly recommending you in the future. Amazing results. Jimmy Hardy

I'm over the moon with my new powder brows. I've wanted to have permanent make up on my eyebrows for over 2 years but never took the plunge. Would I like them? Would I regret it? Would it be painful? I knew after seeing Nyree's work on here and then after my consultation I knew I'd found the right lady for the job. Nyree knew exactly what I wanted and certainly delivered. Why did I wait, that's my only regret! I'm super happy and can't stop looking at them. Karley Manthorpe
